Hands holding custom brick figures of a bride and groom, a personalized wedding keepsake made from their photo

The Personalized Wedding Keepsake They'll Build Together

A wedding keepsake made from the couple's own photo is a personalized wedding gift that could only ever belong to them. At Brick-You we turn one wedding photo into two brick figures, each about 12 cm tall, wearing the dress, the suit, the veil and the bouquet from the day. The pair costs $128 AUD and usually arrives 2 to 3 weeks after you order.

Most wedding gifts get used. Towels, glasses, a very good frying pan. Lovely, and nobody cries opening a frying pan. A keepsake has a different job. It sits on a shelf for twenty years and reminds two people what they looked like on the day they said yes.

What counts as a custom photo wedding keepsake

It is any gift made from a real photo of the couple instead of a design picked from a catalogue. The photo is the raw material. That covers canvas prints, photo books, illustrated portraits, engraved frames and 3D figures.

The flat options are everywhere, and most couples already get a canvas and an album from their photographer. A figure is the one that tends to be missing from the gift table.

Keepsake What you send What the couple gets Suits
Custom brick figures One clear photo of the couple Two 12 cm figures they build themselves, in their wedding outfits Couples who have the photos covered already
Canvas or framed print One high-resolution photo A wall piece of a single moment Couples with bare walls and a favourite shot
Photo book 30 to 100 photos The whole day in order Parents and grandparents
Illustrated portrait One photo A drawn or painted version of it Couples who like art more than photography
Engraved frame or ornament Names, date, one photo A small display piece A modest budget or a second gift

How a wedding photo becomes custom wedding figurines

You upload a photo, we design the figures, you approve them, and then we make them. Nothing gets built until you say yes. The full process is on our How It Works page.

  1. Choose the wedding couple set and upload a clear photo of the couple. Full-body shots work best because we can see the whole outfit. No photo in the wedding clothes yet? Send separate pictures of the dress and suit, or tell us in words what each figure should wear.
  2. Within 24 to 48 hours we email a digital preview of both figures.
  3. Ask for changes. Edits are free and unlimited, so if the bouquet should be peonies and we drew roses, tell us.
  4. Once you approve, production takes 5 to 6 business days. Each figure is UV printed on ABS plastic, the same kind of hard plastic used in building bricks, so the colour stays put.
  5. Shipping takes 5 to 12 business days depending on the country, with tracking. Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada are 7 to 10.

The figures arrive unassembled, about 250 pieces each, with a 3D instruction guide the couple opens from a QR code. Building them is half the present. Two newlyweds on the lounge room floor a week after the honeymoon, arguing about which piece is the veil, is exactly how we hoped it would go.

The details we match from the photo

We match hair colour and style, skin tone, the dress, the suit, the veil, the bouquet, the boutonnière, and glasses or accessories that show in the photo. Send extra photos if the back of the dress or a particular pair of shoes matters, or describe the detail and we'll add it.

The small things are what make people laugh when they open it. A green velvet jacket. Docs under a ball gown. The beard he grew for the wedding and shaved off straight after.

Kids can be part of it too. If a son or daughter was in the wedding, add a third figure in their outfit, tiny waistcoat and tie included. Build Your Own Set takes up to seven figures, so the whole family fits on one base.

A unique wedding gift idea for the couple who has everything

Custom figures work well here because the couple can't already own them and can't buy them from a registry. The gift doesn't exist until someone sends in their photo.

People order them for a few different reasons:

  • Guests who want something more personal than a registry item, often sent after the wedding once the photos are back.
  • Bridesmaids and groomsmen pooling money for one gift from the whole group.
  • Parents of the bride or groom who want a keepsake for their own shelf as well.
  • Couples buying for themselves, or for each other as a first anniversary gift.
  • Couples thanking their bridal party. Orders of five or more figures get bulk pricing.

They work as a custom wedding cake topper too

The bride and groom figures can stand on top of the cake on the day. They sit side by side on a white brick base with a small red heart between them, so they stay upright on a flat top tier. Order them from an engagement photo, a dress fitting picture or a description of the outfits, since the wedding photos won't exist yet. Once the cake is gone, the topper is the keepsake.

When to order

Order at least four weeks before you need the gift in your hands. The usual run is 2 to 3 weeks from order to delivery, and the extra week covers preview changes and the post.

If you want the figures to match the real wedding outfits, wait until you have a photo from the day and give the gift afterwards. That is the most common way people do it, and nobody minds a wedding present that turns up a month late looking exactly like them. If you need it for the day itself, an engagement photo or a picture from a dress fitting works too. Express shipping is US$35 if you are cutting it fine.

What it costs

The wedding couple set is $128 AUD for two figures. The couple set with a small easel that holds the original photo beside the figures is $148 AUD. Orders over $140 AUD ship free worldwide with tracking, and prices show in your local currency at checkout.

Every order is covered for 30 days after delivery: if it doesn't match the preview you approved, or something is missing, we replace or refund it.

Wedding keepsake questions

What is a custom photo wedding keepsake?

A custom photo wedding keepsake is a gift made from a real photo of the couple, such as a canvas, a photo book, an illustrated portrait or a pair of custom figures. Brick-You makes two 12 cm brick figures from the couple's photo, dressed in their wedding outfits.

How long does a custom wedding keepsake take to arrive?

Brick-You wedding figures usually arrive 2 to 3 weeks after ordering. The digital preview takes 24 to 48 hours, production takes 5 to 6 business days after you approve it, and shipping takes 5 to 12 business days depending on the country.

What photo do I need to send?

Send one clear, well-lit photo of the couple, ideally full-body. If that photo doesn't show the wedding outfits, add separate photos of the dress and suit, or describe what you want each figure to wear, and we design the figures from that.

Can the figures match the real wedding dress and suit?

Yes. The figures are designed from the photo, including the dress, suit, veil, bouquet, boutonnière, hair, skin tone and glasses. You see a digital preview first and can ask for unlimited free changes before anything is made.

Can I use custom brick figures as a wedding cake topper?

Yes. The couple stand together on a white brick base with a red heart and are about 12 cm tall, which suits the top tier of a wedding cake. After the wedding the topper moves to a shelf and becomes the keepsake.

What is a good wedding gift for a couple who has everything?

A gift made from their own photo is a safe choice, because they can't already own it. Custom brick figures of the couple cost $128 AUD at Brick-You, and the couple builds them together from about 250 pieces each.

Is Brick-You connected to LEGO?

No. Brick-You figures are not made by or connected with the LEGO Group. LEGO® is a trademark of the LEGO Group. Our figures are custom-made brick figures in the classic building brick format.
